King Chlodwig I
c. 1880 Steel Engraving

Chlodwig (466-511 A.D.) is shown here in the process of conquering France. The print was published by Selmar Hess of New York in about 1880, and is from a painting by O. Knille, engraved by Deininger. It is in excellent condition with no discoloration anywhere. The original tissue guard is intact. The print is on heavy paper, and is blank on the reverse. The margins are bigger than shown here, the print being 10-3/4 inches by 7-3/4 inches; the image area is 6-1/2 inches by 6inches. Your satisfaction is totally guaranteed -- this is a near-mint condition engraving of barbarians about to do their worst.
