Dzidudu Darkey-Mensah, Ho Volta Region, Ghana
Dzidudu Darkey-Mensah, sponsored in 2007, is studying for her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Ghana. Upon her graduation, she hopes to work as a prominent radio or TV presenter in Ghana. Once in this industry, she plans to organize and produce documentaries on deprived areas in her community as a means of drawing government attention and concern to those areas. Dzidudu is being sponsored by cooperation between Binghamton Students for Students International and Kapadia Education Foundation.


Emilia Akortia, Ho Volta Region, Ghana
Emilia Akortia, sponsored in 2007, is studying at the University of Ghana for a dual degree in Political Science and the Theatrical Arts, and she hopes to graduate with these degrees by May of 2008. Emilia has been working during academic holidays to cover costs which will not be covered by her sponsorship. After her undergraduate studies, Emilia hopes to become a lawyer, especially working with women in her community to prosecute and prevent domestic violence. She also plans to help raise funds for people who cannot afford their own legal fees, and spread awareness about domestic violence. Emilia is being sponsored by cooperation between Binghamton Students for Students International and Kapadia Education Foundation, and she is being mentored by Phuong Nguyen, a student at Binghamton University.


Mercy Makafui Tsorme, Accra, Ghana
Mercy Makafui Tsorme, sponsored in 2007, graduated from Koforidua Polytechnic University in Ghana in 2008 with a Higher National Degree in Accountancy. She now plans to begin a successful career in her field of study. As her community is a deprived area, she hopes someday to be able to assist intelligent children who may not be of financial means so that they may attend school. Mercy was sponsored through cooperation between Kapadia Education Foundation and Binghamton Students for Students International and was mentored by Kseniya Lifanova, a student at Binghamton University.


BonsuSebastian Fredua Bonsu, Accra, Ghana
Sebastian Fredua Bonsu, who was referred to the Foundation by Isaac Kofi Fletcher, another student sponsored by KEF, graduated from the University of Ghana in late 2007 with a diploma in Computer Network Administration. Mr. Bonsu is hopeful that he can use his education to help himself in his new career and to generate opportunities for his community in the emerging information technology business.


FletcherIsaac Kofi Fletcher, Adum, Ghana
Isaac Kofi Fletcher is a student in Ghana, studying for a professional diploma in software engineering. The course, offered by NIIT Education and Training Centre in Adum, Ghana, is a four semester course, and Isaac completed the first semester in August, 2004, scoring a 79% cumulative weighted average. The annual cost for Isaac’s education is roughly $705. Because this exceeds the maximum $550 per year contribution from Isaac’s Sponsor, Isaac has asked his two uncles, Mr. Akwesi Brobbey, and Mr. Kojo Bequin, to pay for the balance of the annual fees, and both of his uncles have agreed in writing to do so.


MoonLike Moon, Qui Nhon, Vietnam
Nguyen Hoang Nhu Nguyet, whose name means "Like Moon," has graduated from the Law University in Ho Chi Minh City with a Bachelor of Law. She is now working in Vietnam and remains in close contact with the Foundation and with her sponsor, Diana Felber, who is on the Board of Directors of Kapadia Education Foundation.

Cynthia Alariba Bayelimah, Accra, Ghana
Cynthia Alariba Bayelimah, sponsored in 2007, is studying for her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Ghana. She strives to support herself past what she receives from sponsorship by taking jobs on each academic vacation. After her undergraduate schooling, she plans to pursue a Master’s degree. Cynthia is being sponsored by cooperation between Binghamton Students for Students International and Kapadia Education Foundation. Her mentor is Lonnie Kaplan, a current student at Binghamton University.


BaltazariGloria Baltazari, Arusha, Tanzania
Gloria Baltazari is studying at the Mzumbe University for her Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree. She has been studying at Mzumbe University since September, 2004 and hopes to graduate in November, 2007.  Gloria comes from a farming family. She has one sister and two brothers. In Gloria’s words, after graduation, she hopes to ‘work as a court magistrate, whereby I will execute my duties according to government laws, and also execute justice and fight corruption’. She hopes that her education will someday help ‘support poverty reduction strategies which ultimately will help to improve communities’ economy and result in establishing stable and peaceful society’.


KaayaUpendo Josephat Kaaya, Arusha, Tanzania
Ms. Upendo Josephat Kaaya is a young woman who has enrolled at the Imbaseni Vocational Training Centre where she will be studying secretarial and commercial courses to qualify her for the National Business Examination. In addition to courses in secretarial, communication, book keeping, accounts and storekeeping, Upendo will take courses in advanced computer training. Upendo was sponsored by Richard Fuller, who is also on the Board of Kapadia Education Foundation.


WanjukiMartha Wanjuki, Nairobi, Kenya
Martha Wanjuki has completed her post-graduate studies at the University of Nairobi and received a Masters of Arts degree in Development Studies. One of her initial objectives once she starts earning money after graduation is to provide financial assistance to another student in Kenya. Her goal is to use her knowledge in Development Studies to help her community by working with a government or non-government organization to help eradicate poverty and achieve sustained development. She also plans to invest in farming and the stock exchange once she has enough capital.


SosthenesGodfrey Ndoshi Sosthenes, Arusha, Tanzania
Godfrey Ndoshi Sosthenes, sponsored in 2005, has graduated from the Open University of Tanzania with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Though the cost for his education exceeded $500 annually, Godfrey acquired a grant from the Tanzanian government to cover the balance and help finance his education. In addition to studying for his business degree, Godfrey transferred to the Tandahimba District to teach in the secondary schools there. While there, he was able to continue his studies at a nearby center for his university. Godfrey was sponsored by Ross Povenmire, who is on the Board of Kapadia Education Foundation.
